The Bedford Police Department, in collaboration with the Bedford Health Department, Bedford Board of Health and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, is hosting a gun buyback event on Saturday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bedford Department of Public Works in recognition of June being Gun Violence Prevention Month.
Residents are asked to provide advance notice to the Police Department of their intention to turn in a gun at this event by either emailing BedfordPolice@police.bedfordma.gov or calling 781-275-1212. Please bring firearms unloaded with the safety engaged in a bag, box or case. Leave the unloaded firearm inside the trunk of your vehicle upon arrival at the Bedford Public Works Yard located at 314 The Great Road.
Anyone turning in a gun will receive a $100 Visa gift card. BB guns and Airsoft guns do not qualify for a gift card, but can also be turned in at this event.
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and Massachusetts State Police will safely destroy all guns collected at the event.
On Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Bedford Police Department, in collaboration with Bedford Farms, will also host a toy gun buyback for kids, with kids encouraged to trade in their toy guns for a voucher for a free kiddie cone ice cream from Bedford Farms.
Both events are part of the continuing Bedford Safe Campaign. For more information on the Bedford Safe Campaign, click here.
